John Dredge, son of John Drudge/Dredge, can first be found in Mifflin Twp, Cumberland Co., Pennyslvania, along with his brother Henry Dredge in the 1820 and 1840 census. Henry moved to Knox County, Illinois around 1846. We next find John in Letterkenny Township, Franklin Co., Pennsylvania in the 1850 census.

From the Centennial Biographical History - 1902 Chapaign Co., Ohio:
"On the 2nd of February, 1881, was celebrated the marriage of James A. Lee to Rachel R. Dredge, who was born in Springfield township, Clark County, Ohio, March 15. 1858. Her parents beign John and Frances (Wingert) Dredge, both of whom were natives of Pennsylvania, in which state they were reared and married, coming thence to Clark County, Ohio in the year 1853. The father was a miller by occupation."

From this we know that the Dredge families in Preble Co., and Clark Co., Ohio in the 1850's thru the turn of the century are descendants of John Drudge/Dredge
